PATON Welding Electrodes – Basic
Product details
PATON basic electrodes are used for manual arc welding of metal profiles or pipes subjected to high stress, made from carbon steel or low-alloy steel with a tensile strength of 500-600 N/mm², especially if a high resistance to cracking of the weld seam is required. They are frequently used in the construction of bridges, ships, in shipyards, and in the manufacturing of pressure vessels. The electrodes can be used for welding in any position.
Basic-coated electrodes have two remarkable characteristics: a) high impact bending strength, especially at low temperatures; b) better crack resistance compared to other types. They produce a deposited metal of high metallurgical quality with low diffusible hydrogen content.
Coating type: basic
Standardization: AWS A 5.1:E 7018
Coding: E514 B20 according to ISO 2560-A (GOST 9466-77)
Application Areas
It is used for welding in a protective gas environment (CO2 and gas mixtures) of carbon and low-alloy steels in shipbuilding, pressure vessels, boilers, etc.
